Over the years of the Walden Island Tea, husbands would patiently wait for their tea-going wives. Islanders Gene and Lorraine Koppert started providing BBQ and beer for the husbands while they waited. The Walden Island Beef & Brew grew into it’s own, highly anticipated event. Husbands were joined by sons, fathers, and other guests. Beef & Brew eventually included a raffle, silent auction, and often live music for entertainment.
